Minds were put to the test today during our Breakout Edu session. Our school was given “A Case of the Mondays” where we were doomed to have every day for the rest of the year be Monday unless they could unlock the mysterious box. Five locks needed to be opened using solutions to clues and puzzles from around the room. Neither class was successful today, which made for great discussion about learning from failure. They are already asking when we can do it all again!
If you’re looking for a way to creatively engage your students in critical thinking and problem solving, this is a must! I’m not sure I have ever witnessed such genuine engagement from every single student lasting for the duration of class. Check out breakoutedu.com for ideas. I got all of my materials (locks, lock box, tackle box, blacklight flashlight, etc.) from another donorschoose project.
Good luck!
